Founded in 2001, Recompute has set the standard in customer service and product quality all while offering great value refurbished computers. The Recompute (formerly bargainseeker.com.au) website was established to better serve a wider range of customers regardless of geographical location, the only problem was they were nowhere to be found on Google.
Having previously engaged with an SEO agency that over-promised and under-delivered, they were ready for change. After a very successful Google Ads and Shopping campaign with Local Digital, we we’re given an opportunity to show Recompute that we not only talk the SEO talk, but walk the SEO walk.
With traffic and revenue all but plateaued, Local Digital was tasked with not only improving Recompute’s organic visibility but improving their rankings for competitive, super valuable keywords such as refurbished laptops and refurbished computers, which would ultimately lead to a significant increase in SEO traffic and revenue.
We audited all of the “SEO basics” – metadata, heading tags, page copy etc across all the key pages and found that it wasn’t optimised for their target keywords. We also audited Recompute’s backlink profile and disavowed all the nasty links the previous agency had built.
We rolled out new content to the home page and main category pages to support the optimised metadata. TF-IDF optimisation of key pages on the site better provides Google with the context it needed.
There was an opportunity to expand the product categories and target different brands and capital cities. We also created pages targeting people who would be interested in a refurbished laptop such as pensioners and students.
Finally, to complement the onsite optimisation, we commenced a link acquisition campaign to boost the authority of the domain. This involved prospecting for relevant, high-quality tech domains and placing links on them which improved the authority of the Recompute’s domain and lead to improved rankings.
