How Daily Blooms became the first result for flower delivery in every city they serve

Daily Blooms had spent most of a year on SEO with nothing to show for it. Three years on they hold first place for flower delivery in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.

The problem

Daily Blooms sell flowers online, same day, across the Australian capitals. When they came to us they already had an SEO consultancy. What they did not have was growth: a year of work had produced a flat line, and on some measures the site had gone backwards.

Melbourne was the hero market and they wanted to own it, with Sydney the growth opportunity beside it. Almost everything was coming through performance channels, and the goal was to get organic carrying half the load rather than sitting as a line item that never paid for itself.

What we did

Nothing exotic. The basics done properly, at a scale most florists never get to, and then repeated every time they opened a new city.

1Fixed the fundamentals at scaleTitles, H1s, URL slugs and on-page copy rewritten across the whole site to target the head terms, rather than a handful of pages getting attention while the rest were left alone.
2Built a page for every suburbEvery suburb they deliver to got its own page, which picks up local searches and gives each city proper coverage instead of one thin page per capital.
3Built for how people actually searchPages for flower types, for occasions, for hospital delivery, and for sending flowers to Australia from the UK, New Zealand, the US and Canada. Each one answers a different buying moment.
4Link building at industrial scaleSustained link acquisition to lift the authority of the domain, which is what lets the money pages hold position in a market this competitive.
5Repeated it city by cityAs they expanded, each new city got the same treatment: city page, suburb pages, internal linking, links.

The results

They own the money terms. First for flower delivery melbourne, flower delivery sydney, flower delivery brisbane, flower delivery perth, flower delivery gold coast and flower delivery sunshine coast, plus a long tail of similar terms around each one. For an online florist those six searches are the revenue, and Daily Blooms is the first result a buyer sees.

Their own analytics has organic traffic up tenfold since March 2023. Top three rankings went from 199 to 1,963 across the site, which is the part that compounds: thousands of smaller terms that each bring a buyer, sitting underneath the head terms they now own outright. Melbourne was the market they had to win. They won it, and then they won every other city they deliver to.
