How Little Acre went from page 3 to page 1 in under two months

Little Acre's gourmet mushrooms and grow kits were invisible for the searches that mattered, despite their own SEO efforts. Keyword mapping, new copy and links put their target terms on page one inside two months.

The problem

Little Acre grow gourmet mushrooms in the heart of Brisbane, supplying local restaurants and cafes, and ship mushroom grow kits to doorsteps Australia-wide. Social media and paid ads were pulling their weight. Organic search wasn't, despite the team's own efforts at SEO.

The core issue was simple: for the terms that mattered, like mushroom grow kit and mushroom kit, they were close to impossible to find. The keywords they did rank for carried little buying intent and weren't driving leads or sales. The brief: grow organic traffic, expand search visibility and increase sales.

What we did

We started with comprehensive research into the industry and Little Acre's target market, pulling out the high value keywords and feeding them into our keyword mapping process. Existing ranking trends were analysed, and the most effective, closely related terms were mapped to the main pages before any copy was written.

1Keyword research and mappingHigh value terms from the research were mapped to Little Acre's main pages, weighted by the trends in keywords the site already ranked for.
2Audited the SEO basicsMetadata, heading tags and page copy were checked across every key page and rewritten around the mapped keywords.
3Copy tested with TF-IDFOur copywriter produced additional copy for the key pages using the main and semantic keywords, then tested it with TF-IDF optimisation so it would perform contextually against Google's signals.
4Built linksWith onsite work complete, our outreach team built local directory and citation links to establish a foundation, then acquired authoritative links from high value, trusted domains.

The results

Less than two months in, Little Acre had significantly more organic traffic and many more keywords in the top Google rankings. Target terms that had sat on the third page and deeper, virtually impossible to find, were now on page one and still trending upwards, several in fifth and sixth position.
